OUR HISTORY
Landmark
Baptist Church originated on May 15, 1988, when two small,
struggling Southern Baptist fellowships combined into one church
body.
God
continued to bless this new ministry and soon additional facilities
were needed. After remodeling and expanding the building the church
was using for worship to its fullest extent, it became necessary to
begin the search for property to build upon to meet the needs of the
growing church.
In 1990,
God blessed the church by providing 14.4 acres of land at our
present location and on February 17, 1991, the church voted to trust
God for the necessary funds to build our present worship center.
$550,000.00 in church bonds were sold by the church members and
others to construct the initial building.
The
ground breaking ceremony for the new building was held on Sunday May
19, 1991, following the morning worship service. Construction began
the following day. Volunteer builders came from across the United
States to help many of our own members in the construction of the
new building. We will always be thankful to God for the many loving,
hard-working people He sent to help us.
In 1997
the congregation voted to begin a full-time Preschool/Daycare
ministry. Under the present leadership of Mrs. Lynne Campbell, this
ministry continues to prosper.
God
has always been good to provide for His work at Landmark Baptist
Church. This year (2007) we were able by His divine grace, guidance,
and provision to build a new multipurpose building adjoining our
existing facilities. The new addition allows us to enjoy the use of:
a much larger entrance foyer and kitchen area, new restroom
facilities, increased parking capacity, and a beautiful gymnasium
area that will provide for additional outreach in our community
among youth, children, adults of all ages, and various other church
related activities.
The
greatest of God’s blessings upon Landmark Baptist church throughout
the years however, has not been the land and the buildings it has
acquired. It’s the precious members God has, and continues, to send
us. Some of the best, friendliest, and most loving people in the
entire world worship regularly at Landmark Baptist Church. Yes, I
know. That’s a very big statement to make. If you don’t believe us,
come and see for yourself!
